Līfstead · Stage II · Navigation

Stop consulting the map. Learn to read the terrain.

You already have the signal. You have been overriding it for years. The Compass Work teaches you to stop.

Not coaching

Coaching helps you set better goals. Navigation replaces the orientation system you have been using with one that does not require an outside source. These are not the same product.

Not another reading

Wayfinder was the last external map. The Compass Work uses the same four systems as training wheels, explicitly labeled as such from day one. The goal is to make them unnecessary before you are done.

Three capacities. That is all.

Recognize your own internal signal before any system names it. Identify when you have overridden it and what that costs. Build a repeatable personal recalibration process. Everything else is scaffolding.

The graduation condition

You make a significant real-life decision using only your internal signal, without consulting any external system first, and can articulate afterward how you knew what you knew. That is done. Your assessment. Not Brian’s.

Five sequential stations. Client-paced. No fixed timeline.

Each station builds directly on the one before it. No station is skipped. No station is repeated unless the client identifies the work is incomplete. Between each station: structured daily Fieldwork via SMS. Not homework. Precision practice instruments.

I

Signal Identification

What does your genuine yes actually feel like?

Direct somatic investigation using real current decisions as the practice material. The four systems are introduced here as retrospective validators only. “The system calls this Sacral authority. What have you been calling it?”

Threshold: consistent same-day signal identification across multiple decision types.

II

Override Mapping

Catalogue every significant override in the last five years.

For each: what did your signal say, what did you do, what was the result. No interpretation applied. The patterns emerge from the client’s own data. Override is not failure. It is information. The map of how you override is the map of where the capacity is missing.

Threshold: three accurate override identifications within any seven-session window, plus early-catch evidence.

III

Shadow Pattern Recognition

The recurring texture that shows up when you are off signal.

Not the Gene Keys label. The lived experience: what does it feel like the day before you make a decision you will later recognize as an override? Station III teaches recognition before the name. That is the capacity being built.

Threshold: four sessions in any eight-session window using regulation anchors under real activation.

IV

Timing Literacy

How do you personally experience expansion versus contraction?

Not transits. Not Personal Years. What does your body and life actually feel like in a high-cycle versus a low-cycle? Timing Literacy is reading your own seasonal rhythm directly from lived experience. This is what the transit charts were always pointing at. Station IV removes the intermediary.

Threshold: signal choices outnumber override over any 14-session window.

V

Drift and Return

The client drifts under real pressure and returns without external interpretation.

Cannot be rushed. Cannot be skipped. The client brings a real current decision of genuine consequence. No Brian input on the decision itself. They use their protocol, make the call, commit to it in writing, and report. Brian’s role here is witness only. Not guide.

Threshold: two documented drift-and-return cycles with measurably shorter return time on the second.

Daily reps. In your phone. On your terrain.

What Fieldwork is

A daily SMS-based practice system. You reply to short, precise prompts in a text thread on your own phone. Approximately two to four minutes per day. No app to open. No login. Just a thread you already know how to use.

What Fieldwork is not

Not a journal prompt. Not “reflect on this concept.” Not a reading list. Every Fieldwork prompt is a precision observation tool calibrated to the specific capacity the current station is building. The client is collecting data on their own terrain, not developing their understanding of the systems.

What Fieldwork produces

A growing body of self-generated data across all five stations. The override history from Station II becomes the raw material for Station III. The shadow pattern observations become the foundation of the personal recalibration protocol in Station V. Nothing is discarded. The Fieldwork is cumulative.

The architecture

Fieldwork runs a rules-first logic model: station thresholds and progression criteria are structural. The prompts and weekly synthesis are calibrated to the client’s own language from their Bearing. Rules decide structure. Language stays human. That keeps the method coherent and prevents generalized wisdom replacing specific data.

The 21-Day Rule

If Station I threshold has not been met within 21 days, a 20-minute diagnostic call is automatically scheduled. Not optional. Not at Brian’s discretion. The system flags it. The four most common obstacles are diagnosable in under 10 minutes: language mismatch, quiet cycle, over-intellectualizing, or non-compliance.

Not ready for the full commitment? Find your bearings first.

Bearings is a single-session Navigation instrument. It does one thing: identifies your current signal state, names the mechanism creating it, and gives you a 7-day stabilization sequence.

Navigation Entry Point

Bearings

A precision read of your current internal state using the same convergent methodology as Wayfinder, applied inward. You receive: a named condition, its mechanism, the distortion it creates, the cost curve if it continues, a 7-day stabilization sequence, and a clear bridge to the Compass Work if that is your next step.

Condition A

Active Collapse

Something ended and the internal noise is loud enough that direction is genuinely unclear. Bearings stops the bleed before anything is built.

Condition B

Identity Shedding

The old version of you has expired but the new one has not fully arrived. The work here is letting the transition complete, not accelerating through it.

Condition C

Signal Suppression

You know what you know but you cannot act on it yet. The gap between internal read and external behavior is wide and widening.

Condition D

Threshold Fear

You can see what comes next and it terrifies you. Not because it is wrong. Because it requires a version of you that is not yet visible.

Format

Five-station arc of Navigation capacities. Client-paced. No fixed timeframe. Some move through in 60 days. Some take 180 or more. The client stays until the stage is complete. Daily SMS Fieldwork between weekly check-ins. Weekly AI-generated Field Review replacing the need for ongoing live calls.

What you graduate with

Your completed Protocol for Return, built from your own Fieldwork data. A documented override history and shadow pattern map. Five-station evidence of demonstrated capacity. A Stage 3 entry assessment. The capacity to navigate without ongoing reliance on external instruments.

Investment

$3,500 – $5,000
Scoped at intake based on complexity of the client’s override history and signal fluency baseline. Not a sliding scale. A precision estimate based on what the work actually requires.

Or in the full passage

The Compass Work is included in the full Līfstead Passage at $6,000 paid in full or $550/month. If you started with Wayfinder standalone, your $1,000 applies as a credit toward the Passage.

What comes after

Stage III — Open Terrain

Six months of navigating real life without a net. No advice. A protocol you wrote yourself. Witnesses who only reflect what they observe.
